About Buckingham Tennis Club

Buckingham Tennis Club as we know it today, evolved from the Buckingham Victoria Lawn Tennis Club which was founded circa May 1912. The story goes that a local pub landlord , one Mr Geo Lawless from the New Inn in Buckingham, donated the use of an acre of his land to the newly formed tennis club. We are still located on the same site today.

We are a small but very active and friendly club, encompassing a wide range of age groups and characters, all with a love of tennis. Our various styles of play range from the interesting to the athletic. We have 3 popular club sessions per week and we play throughout the year, in almost all weather. The chat on the bench whilst waiting your turn on court, can be as interesting as the tennis.

We hold various club tournaments, and also enter teams in the local leagues, both summer and winter, providing us with an opportunity to play other clubs in the area.

If you are new to the area and looking for a tennis club, or have played in the past and looking to take up tennis again, do get in touch. You are more than welcome to come and try out a club session before making a decision to join. New members are always welcome.

We have circa 60 juniors participating in our junior coaching program. Coaching is available for 4-18 year olds in age divided group sessions, following the LTA training program, with fully qualified and checked coaches. Children can participate in the junior coaching program without becoming a club member.
